Born in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture in 1967. Live in Ishinomaki and Tokyo. Masaaki and Yoshiaki Mori are twin brothers who started their collaboration as one entity, Akira Mori, in 1996. Akira Mori explores distances and unities between oneself and others, brought about through various kinds of Media, and visualizes invisible borders between social groups and political divisions. Their works have been featured in several exhibitions including "VIDEONALE 7" (Kunstmuseum Bonn, Germany), “MOT ANNUAL 2000—Cold Burn” (The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, Tokyo), “Big Sky Friendship”(Towada Art Center, Aomori), “MOT Satellite 2017 FALL—Connecting Scapes” (The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, Tokyo),“Toshiaki Tomita×Akira Mori—A LETTER FROM RIP VAN WINKLE” (Kushiro City Museum of Art, Hokkaido), among others.
