Faust in Marienbad by the Alterity at the End of the Pursuit of Individuality, and the Landscape Beyond, 2022

Kiwamari House, an art space Kaoru Arima previously opened in Inuyama, Aichi Prefecture, in 1996 and in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture, in 2007, was launched in Ishinomaki in 2017. It fosters the next generation of an art community in the region. For this year’s Reborn-Art Festival, Arima expands the notion of a present that is not bound by the past or the future in two venues: the former Information Exchange Center, which exhibits the disaster archives, and a hotel room with a view of the sea and the island of Kinkasan from its window. “While using these two venues, one in Ayukawa and the other in the city center, the fundamental theme expressed from both sides (Taiji) remains the same. That Taiji becomes a swirl, and eventually one (now).” (Kaoru Arima)
